Go Big or Go Homeless

Go Big or Stay Homeless is the Capital Campaign for Homeless Youth Alliance. We’re a nonprofit that’s been serving homeless runaways in San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury since 1992.

 

In 2014, after 12 years of running a drop-in center on Haight Street, HYA lost its lease. Without an indoor program site, we’ve taken our work outdoors. Our services—therapy, counseling, case management, medical care—are now entirely street-based. We’re still reaching hundreds of homeless kids weekly, but the youth of the Haight deserve better.

 

They’ve lost enough. They deserve to once again have a safe, secure indoor refuge. They deserve a home.

 

The goal of our Go Big or Stay Homeless Campaign is to purchase a building in the Haight Ashbury. Our goal is to restore what the homeless kids of the Haight lost when we lost our lease: a welcoming indoor refuge, where they can get a hot meal, a shower, clean clothes, and where they can see a doctor, a therapist, and a case manager, all under one roof. We’ll be a jumping-off point for youth to get off the streets, into recovery, and living fulfilling lives.
